Privacy Policy

1. What stays on your device

Aurora stores the following locally, in its own private app storage. None of it is uploaded anywhere, and all of it is deleted when you uninstall the app.

• Home screen layout — pages, folders, dock and widget placement, so your home screen can be restored.
• Settings — theme, grid, gestures, icon size and so on, to remember your preferences.
• Launch history — which apps you opened from Aurora and how often, used only to rank Suggestions in the App Library.
• Recent searches — to offer them again in the search field.
• Last weather reading — so the widget shows something before it refreshes.

You can clear this at any time from Aurora Settings → Home Screen → Reset Home Screen layout and Aurora Settings → Privacy & Permissions → Reset all settings.

2. What Aurora reads, and when

Installed applications

Aurora reads the list of apps that can be launched, along with their names and icons. This is what a home screen is. It is read on the device and never sent anywhere.

Notifications — optional, and you are asked first

If you grant notification access, Aurora reads notifications so it can show them in its own Notification Center and offer media controls. Aurora only displays and dismisses notifications. It does not modify, suppress, store, forward or transmit their contents. Nothing leaves the device. You can revoke this at any time in Android Settings → Notifications → Device & app notifications.

Contacts — optional, off by default

Contacts are read only if you switch on contact search, and only while you are typing in the search field. Results are shown and discarded. No contact data is stored by Aurora or sent anywhere.

Location — optional, only for weather

If you add the weather widget and allow approximate location, Aurora reads your device's last known coarse location and sends the coordinates — rounded to three decimal places — to Open-Meteo to retrieve a forecast.

That request contains only those coordinates. No device identifier, no advertising ID, no account, nothing that identifies you or your phone. Aurora does not store your location; it stores only the returned weather reading. Open-Meteo's own privacy policy is at open-meteo.com/en/terms.

If you do not place the weather widget, Aurora makes no network requests at all.

3. Purchases

Aurora Pro is an optional one-time purchase. It is processed entirely by Google Play. Aurora never sees, handles or stores your payment details — Google tells the app only whether the product is owned, and nothing else about you.

Your entitlement is held by Google against your Google account, which is why it can be restored on a new device without Aurora storing anything about you. Google's handling of the transaction is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

4. What Aurora never does

• No account, sign-in or profile
• No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or usage statistics
• No advertising, advertising identifiers or ad networks
• No selling or sharing of data with anyone
• No reading of messages, call logs, files, photos, browsing or clipboard
• No background collection of any kind

5. Permissions, and why each exists

Aurora does not request QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES. It uses the narrower <queries> declaration for launchable activities, which is what Android intends home apps to use.

6. Children

Aurora is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes and the updated policy is published at this same URL before the change takes effect.
